On December 7th we told you about an action supported by this medium for the auction of a 1967 Vespa 50 Special, restored by Vespa Roma, in order to give visibility and financial support to two solidarity projects of the Legacy of María de Villota and Parish Caritas in San Ramón Nonato, in Puente de Vallecas.
The Vespa auction ended on December 23, 2022, closing the highest bid at €5,000. A figure well above our expectations that, without a doubt, is a sample of the social conscience of the person who decided to acquire the Vespa. Since he prefers to remain anonymous, we only know that he is a businessman from Valencia.
On January 10, 2023, we attended the check delivery ceremony by Subasta Procuradores, with the representation of Juan Carlos Estévez, President, and Antonio Álvarez-Buylla, Secretary of the General Council of Attorneys of Spain. In this act, the check for the value of €5,000 was delivered to Emilio de Villota and Isabel Comba, parents of María de Villota, who continue with the work started by María to help the most disadvantaged through the Legacy of María de Villota.
The projects to which the proceeds from the auction have been fully allocated have been the San José Social Dining Room in Puente de Vallecas and the six Hogares de María de Villota, which help women at risk of social exclusion. These projects are managed by volunteers, without management or advertising costs, so that all the proceeds will be used for specific needs, such as house rentals, water supplies, electricity, food, or the smoke outlets of the soup kitchen .
The event took place at the facilities of vespa romeat calle Piamonte 2 in Madrid, in the establishment of the in charge of the restoration of the auctioned Vespa. Encarna and Miguel have done wonders with every detail of this classic motorcycle, which on its first start has already shown its best sound in the last 30 years. Let’s remember that on June 30 this Vespa will be 56 years old.
We have also had the collaboration in this project of the Gabriel Lirola agencywhich has been in charge of paying for the transport of the motorcycle to the ITV, of the ITV itself, and of the transfer of the Vespa to its new owner.
