Volvo executive confirms the debut of the EX30 for June

Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars confirmed that the next June 15 will debut the EX30 and its production will begin before the end of 2023. This will be the smallest car in its future range of electric vehicles and they estimate that it will help them reach a younger audience thanks to its adjusted price.

The first appearance of the Volvo EX30 for the first time happened in a short teaser last November alongside the EX90, and a little bit was learned about it back in December. Rowan confirmed his debut in an interview for CarSales noting as a model “really important”.

According to Rowan, the EX30 will have a “very good price”, while offering to be “very sure” with a “decent range” and “good size”, to be positioned under the XC40. This ties in with previous comments that it would have “superior safety equipment, a fantastic ride and high quality”.

The CEO reveals that the age demographic of the brand is “much bigger” what they would like and what they want to attract “some younger people”. The sale of the EX30 will offer subscription ownership with a three-month commitment, which would help bring the age of Volvo drivers down a bit further.

This EX30 will be assembled in China and will have multiple battery pack options to choose from. It is estimated to use Geely’s SEA platform.

Volvo aims to be EV-only globally by 2030, so its combustion models will be discontinued by then. They also suggested that after the charging infrastructure advances, smaller batteries may be used.
