2024 Subaru Impreza Teases Its New Design Ahead of LA Auto Show Debut

Posted on

Subaru has announced that it will reveal the new Impreza 2024 at this year’s LA Auto Show. The automaker also released a single teaser image of the new model, which unfortunately, reveals very little of the new car. We’ll see it in full on November 17th.

The teaser image only shows the top of the Impreza silhouette, revealing the hatchback design. Subaru is currently also offering it as a sedan. It’s hard to tell in the photos, but it looks like the new Impreza is going higher than the current car. With consumers flocking to crossovers and SUVs, the taller Impreza seems possible, but it could also be a camera gimmick. Brightening the image in Photoshop doesn’t reveal any additional details.

Some of the only visible parts on the blue Impreza are the hood and A-pillar body lines, which look similar to the current car. The photo also shows a small roof spoiler protruding above the hatch glass. There are no interior teaser images, but the vehicle could receive a digital driver display, new infotainment screen, revamped dashboard design, and the latest technological perks. It should also be packed with safety gear like the Subaru Sight System.

All-wheel drive is supposed to be standard on the new Impreza, but it’s unclear if Subaru will make any significant powertrain changes. The current car packs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine under the hood that produces 152 horsepower (113 kilowatts) and 145 pound-feet (196 Newton-meters) of torque. That’s a little underpowered for the Impreza segment, and an upgrade would be welcome. However, we will have to wait until the LA Auto Show to learn about the new engine or output.

The current fifth-generation Impreza goes on sale for the 2017 model year. Sales peaked that year at over 86,000, but they fell by almost half in 2020. They decline again in 2021. A complete redesign inside and out could revitalize the model in the eyes of consumers. , but they continue to flock towards larger crossovers and SUVs despite that. .
