Dodge and Chrysler have yet to replace Takata airbags in half a million 2005-2010 model year cars. As time passes, vehicles continue to age and the risk factor increases.
Therefore, Stellantis encourages owners to don’t drive such cars until the removal of the air bags is completed. the order of stop driving stems of the NHSTA through a statement explaining that two people died this year in a vehicle 2010 Dodge Chargers when the driver’s air bags exploded.
Stellantis claims that about 276,000 vehicles still need Takata airbags removed. Some of the affected models are: dodge magnum, dodge challenger, Dodge Charger Y chrysler 300 from 2005 to 2010. The conglomerate tries to contact all owners directly.
It also warns that the danger increases over time. the bag uses ammonium nitrate to inflate, so they can become more unstable over the years. This happens when it is exposed to extreme humidity or temperature cycles. If the consequences explode they can be deadly.

The owners of the mentioned vehicles cite the time as the number one reason for not completing the withdrawal. Stellantis, for its part, ensures that the change of the component takes less than an hour and that it has «sufficient inventory of new airbags to meet demand.”
The vehicles included in this campaign “stop drivinge” are part of a recall that happened in 2015. Air bag replacement is free.
