Fastrac Two: The fastest tractor on the planet with 1000 horsepower

Speed ​​is normally associated with sports cars when it comes to a motor vehicle. However, in this atypical case a tractor reached 218.7 km/h of average speed and a peak of 247 km/h to get a world record.

The name of the tractor is Fastrac Two and it is a prototype of the JCB company. It is a modification made on a Fastrac of the 8000 series and weighs five tons.

It uses a 7.2-liter six-cylinder engine that performs 1016hp Y 2500Nm of maximum torque. By marking the average speed of 218.7 km/h he obtained a Guinness World Records.

It is worth mentioning that it is the evolution of what was already the fastest tractor in the world. In June of this 2022 the Fastrac reached the 166km/h.


“I was convinced that we could go even faster, and the JCB team rose to the challenge by setting this new record.” said Lord Anthony Bamford, JCB Chairman. “It is an amazing achievement by a young and enthusiastic team of engineers. All involved should be very proud of the role they have played in showcasing JCB engineering at its best.”.

The aforementioned record was made at Lovington Airfield, United Kingdom, and was certified by the case authorities. The pilot of the feat was Guy Martin.

Fastrac Two has a 20 liter fuel tank and for the test they used high performance diesel, although you can use vegetable diesel. According to Tim BurnhopeJCB’s chief innovation officer, the changes were focused on weight reduction, aerodynamics and improved performance.

“Getting a five-tonne tractor to safely go 150 mph, and stop again, is no easy task, but we are all very proud to have not only met these goals, but to have exceeded them.“, he pointed.

The unmodified vehicle has a top speed of 69 km/h, enough to be the fastest production tractor in the world.
