According to him, it was sold to him by upper teeth author Richard Porter. He owned it for a few years but sold it because it ran out of space – which turned out to be an instant regret.
Fortunately, the Jaguar XJR was sold through a dealer dubbed Absolute Classic Cars. It was even advertised as Hammond’s old car, and had only one owner after the celebrity car carrier, so imagine the dealership situation when Hammond calls to actually buy the car.
The video above captures Hammond’s reaction as he reconnects with his old car. You can literally see his face as the memory flashes back to him sitting in the driver’s seat.
After driving, Hammond immediately brought the Jaguar XJR back to the Smallest Cog and set out to start restoration work on the sedan. He wanted it back to pristine and fresh condition, although especially the car only had a few flaws despite living for more than 20 years. The restoration work would not be difficult at all.
