However, the EX90 is an important leap forward in this strategy, as everything in this car has been designed and manufactured with the purpose of making the EX90 the best electric SUV in its classwhich means challenging cars of the stature of the Tesla Model X, the Audi Q8 e-tron or the Mercedes EQE SUV.

To achieve this, Volvo starts from the new SPA 2 platform built in steel and aluminum, an architecture shared with the Polestar 3 and which has been designed to be compatible with different propulsion systems, but where the 100% electric propulsion has been specially optimized. . Proof of this is that the EX90 will feature a 111 kWh gross capacity lithium-ion battery, 107 kWh net capacity, powering an electric motor on each axle. This scheme will be offered in two variants, a first version with 414 hp and 770 Nm and a second version with 517 hp and 910 Nm. Autonomy can reach 600 km under the WLTP cycleallowing recharges of up to 250 kW in alternating current.

In terms of design, the EX90 is a clear evolution of current Volvo aesthetics.. There are no major changes or a radical break in the style language, making this large SUV bear a certain resemblance to the current XC90, although showing a more modern image, with smoother lines and better aerodynamics with a Cx of 0.29.
